Begun
in 2000 by Patrick Chu, Loiminchay is comprised of a group of artists and
product designers working together in New York whose mission is to produce the
highest quality artistic pens. Combining materials such as jade from China,
lacquer from China, Japan, Spain, and France, and nibs from Germany, Loiminchay
pens are true global works of art. Each of Chu's pens must fulfill three
criteria: form, function, and emotional appeal.
The oversize pens are designed
to feel light and balanced in the hand, and their emotional components come
through the heavy influence of Asian art and culture. Their trademark approach
is the fine details of their craftsmanship-- using only rare, fine materials
such as lacquer, Zitan wood, and pearls. Loiminchay may be a young company, but
already it has succeeded in creating beautiful works for the pen aesthete and a
niche all their own.
